Ervin was born on April 13th, 1878 in Bedford Township, Monroe County, Michigan, United States.1  Ervin's father was John Quincy Adams and his mother was Jane Ann Newcomb.  His paternal grandparents were Lucas Adams and Mary A. Baker. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Charles Lucas, George Milan, Aurilla H., Lorella, Hattie N., Carrie and Bertha.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 93 on October 5th, 1971 in Toledo, Lucas, Ohio, United States.  He was buried on October 8th, 1971 in Whiteford, Monroe, Michigan, United States.2 3

‌Ervin and Dora Grace were married in a religious ceremony on December 22nd, 1904 in Temperance, Monroe, Michigan, United States.4   They had four sons and two daughters, named William Sterling, John Quincy, Otis Irven, Leroy Arlon, Gertrude May and Amelia Arlene.
