Abner was born on September 2nd, 1695 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts.1   Abner's father was John Whittier and his mother was Mary Whittier.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Whittier and Ruth Whittier; his maternal grandfather was John Hoyt and his maternal grandmother is Mary Hoyt. He had five brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas, Nathaniel, William, David and Mary.  He died at the age of 61 in 1756 in Amesbury, Essex, Massachusetts.2
