Sarah's father was William Simonds and her mother was Judith Simonds.  Her paternal grandfather is William Simonds; her maternal grandparents are William Phippen and Judith Phippen. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Caleb, Benjamin, Joshua, James, William, Joseph, Tabitha, Huldah, Judith, Mary and Bethiah. She has a half-sister named Rebecca.
