Szymon was born on November 22nd, 1859 in Golub-Dobrzyn, Poland.1   Szymon's father was Cadek Pieniek and his mother was Ruchla Karas.  His paternal grandparents were Tobiasz Pieniek and Ester Bezbrody. He had a brother and three sisters, named Tojwie, Udel, Genta and Nycha Fajgla.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
