Gitla Liba was born in 1850 in Hrubieszow, Lublin, Poland.1   Gitla Liba's father was Chaim Peniak and her mother was Basia Bajla Ruchla Torba.  Her paternal grandparents were Eli Peniak and Liba Gersztein; her maternal grandparents were Herszek Torba and Gitla Trost. She had a brother and two sisters, named Elias Hersz, Henia Szajndla and Hudys Etia.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1851 in Hrubieszow, Lublin, Poland.1
