Robert was born on December 25th, 1762 in Batley, Yorkshire, England.  Robert's father was Thomas REDSHAW and his mother was Martha BOOTH.  His paternal grandparents were Robert REDSHAW and Mary NEWTON.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named James, John, William, Joseph, Nanny, Elisabeth, Mally and Martha.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
