Joseph was born in 1780 in Armley, Yorkshire, England.  Joseph's father was Thomas REDSHAW and his mother was Martha BOOTH.  His paternal grandparents were Robert REDSHAW and Mary NEWTON.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Robert, John, William, Nanny, Elisabeth, Mally and Martha.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 13 on July 19th, 1793 in Armley, Yorkshire, England.
