James Shaw

James was born on November 25th, 1822 in Prestwick and his baptism took place on November 26th, 1822 in Monkton conducted by Doctor Peebles.¹

James' father was Thomas Shaw and his mother was Jean Scoffield.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Shaw and Mary Eaglesham-Smith; his maternal grandparents were James Scoffield and Jane Bone. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Robert, James, Janet, Ann and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the seven children.
