Jean was born on July 16th, 1798 in St. Quivox. Jean's father was James Scoffield and her mother was Jane Bone.  Her maternal grandparents were James Bone and Janet Duncan. She had a brother and six sisters, named James, Janet, Ann, Ann, Mary, Euphemia and Euphemia.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.  She died before 1851.1
