Euphemia's father was James Scoffield and her mother was Jane Bone.  Her maternal grandparents were James Bone and Janet Duncan. She had a brother and five sisters, named James, Janet, Ann, Mary, Jean and Euphemia.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
