Catherine's father was James Robertson and his mother was Catherine McKay. His paternal grandparents were William Robertson and Janet McCulloch. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William, John, James, John, James, Robert, Janet, Jennett and Emma. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 30 on November 5th, 1918 in California.
