Lily's father was James Glen and her mother was Lilias (Lilly) Henderson. Her maternal grandparents were James Henderson and Jane Warden. She had three brothers and two sisters, named James, John, Alexander, Jeanie and Agnes. She was the second youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 81 in 1967 in Falkirk.
