Agnes' father was James Bruce and her mother was Agnes Denovan. She had ten brothers and a sister, named John, Margaret, Margaret, Archibald, James, William, Margaret, Thomas, Andrew, Thomas and Isobell.  She was the fourth youngest of the twelve children.
