Hannah was born in 1855 in Marske-by-Sea, North Yorkshire England.  Hannah's father was Thomas FORREST and her mother was Sarah HOLIDAY.  Her paternal grandparents were David FORREST and Elizabeth MILLER. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Thomas, Wilson, Robert, Joseph, James, Emily and Mary.  She was the oldest of the ten children.
