Robert was born in 1868 in Marske-by-Sea, North Yorkshire England.  Robert's father was Thomas FORREST and his mother was Sarah HOLIDAY.  His paternal grandparents were David FORREST and Elizabeth MILLER. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Thomas, Wilson, Joseph, James, Hannah, Emily and Mary.  He was the seventh oldest of the ten children.
