Mary was born on November 13th, 1823 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and her baptism took place there on November 16th, 1823.1   Mary's father was James COWIN (COWEY) and her mother was Eleanor WILKINSON.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward COWEN (COWEY) and Mary ARMSTRONG. She had a brother and two sisters, named William, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 2 on November 2nd, 1826 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.2
