George Maxwell Goad

George was born in 1834 in Marylebone, London.¹

George's father was Benjamin Goad and his mother was Anne Elizabeth Hill. His paternal grandparents were William Goad and Darling Thomas; his maternal grandparents were Lt Col Sir Robert Chambre Hill and Eliza Lumley. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Goad, Emma and Henrietta. He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, pneumonia and bronchitis following influenza, at the age of 60 on January 30th, 1894. His burial was on February 2nd, 1894 in Wimbourne Road Cemetery, Bournemouth.²³

  A saddle bag with the label 'Capt. George M. Goad' is in the 13th Light Dragoons Museum, Barnsley. It was found by a Cambridge man in the roots of a tree blown down in the 1987 gales.
