Willem was born on February 5th, 1903 in Tulbagh, Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa and his baptism took place on March 1st, 1903 in NG Kerk, Tulbagh conducted by the reverend.1   Willem's father was Thomas Philippus Winterbach and his mother was Johanna Elizabeth Lotz.  His paternal grandparents were ? Winterbach and Magdalena ?. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Petrus, Thomas, Willem, Daniël, Nicolaas, Elizabeth, Magdalena, Johanna, Dorathea, Jacoba, Aletta and Jacoba.  He died at the age of 32 on April 20th, 1935 in Woodstock, Kaapstad.  He was buried in Paarl, Main cemetery.2
