Susanna was born on July 29th, 1849 and her confirmation took place on May 3rd, 1867 in NG Kerk, Tulbagh conducted by the reverend. Susanna's father was Dirk Jacobus Winterbach and her mother was Hester Francina Elizabetha Verster. Her paternal grandparents were Johannes Carel Winterbach and Dorethea Elizabetha Theron. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Johan, Isak, Dirk, Koos, Hendrik, Piet, Tobias, Louis, Dorothea, Johanna and Hester. She died at the age of 26 on April 9th, 1876 in Matjiesfontein.
