Martha, known as Sussie, was born on February 8th, 1905. Sussie's father was Tobias Johannes Winterbach and her mother was Susanna Philippina Louw. Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik Pieter Winterbach and Sara Adriana du Plessis. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Hendrik, Boetie, Gawie, Hennie, Don, Sarie, Wies, Dollie, Kitty and Gerty. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 87 on June 30th, 1992.
