Gertruida, known as Gerty, was born on January 18th, 1925.  Gerty's father was Tobias Johannes Winterbach and her mother was Susanna Philippina Louw.  Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik Pieter Winterbach and Sara Adriana du Plessis. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Hendrik, Boetie, Gawie, Hennie, Don, Sussie, Sarie, Wies, Dollie and Kitty.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 79 on June 1st, 2004.
