Gabriël, known as Gawie, was born on August 13th, 1920 in De Hoop, Prince Albert Road, SA.¹   Gawie's father was Tobias Johannes Winterbach and his mother was Susanna Philippina Louw.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Pieter Winterbach and Sara Adriana du Plessis. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Hendrik, Boetie, Hennie, Don, Sussie, Sarie, Wies, Dollie, Kitty and Gerty.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.  He died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 88 on February 10th, 2009 in Bredasdorp Suideroord Huis vir Bejaardes.  The funeral took place on February 14th, 2009 in Bredasdorp NG Gemeente and was arranged by AVBOB.  He was buried on April 22nd, 2009 in De Doorns, Nis nr 35.^2 2 

‌Gawie were married in a religious & civil ceremony on May 13th, 1947.  He had a biological son and two biological daughters, named Tobie, Marlene and Susan.  There are no more children.
