Maria Scholostia was born on August 10th, 1826 in Pael.1   Maria Scholostia's father was Henry Ariën and her mother was Anna Maria Gaethofs.  Her paternal grandfather was Gerard Ariën and her paternal grandmother is Anna Maria Vanzonhoven; her maternal grandparents were Petrus (Pierre) Gaethofs and Maria Schaenen (Schraenen).  She had two brothers and four sisters, named Petrus Ludovicus, Petrus, Maria Victoria, Maria Carolina, Maria Joseph and Angelica.  She was the youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 58 on May 26th, 1885 in Lummen.2
