Winifred was born in 1916 in Atherstone, Warwickshire.¹ Winifred's father was Joseph Rose SHILTON and her mother was Sarah Jane SMITH. Her paternal grandparents were George SHILTON and Ann ROSE. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Joseph, Cyril, George, Jack, Leonard, Gertrude, Elsie, Edna, Gladys, Kath and Marjorie. She died in 1916 in Atherstone, Warwickshire.¹
