Alexander was born on August 24th, 1198 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.1   Alexander's father was King William (The Lion) of Scotland I and his mother was Ermengarde of Beaumont.  His paternal grandparents were Prince, Earl of Huntington Henry Caenmore of Scotland and Ada De Warenne; his maternal grandparents were Richard de Beaumont I and Lucie de l'Aigle. He had three sisters named Margaret, Isabella and Majorie.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had six half-sisters named Ada, Margaret, Isabel, Ada, Amicia and Aufrica.  He died at the age of 50 on July 6th, 1249 in Isle of Kerrera, Inner Hebrides.  He was buried in Melrose Abbey, Roxburghshire.2 3
