Charles was born about 0925 in Laon, Aisne, Picardy, France.1   Charles' father was Charles (The Simple) Carolingian III and his mother was Princess of England Edgiva of Wessex.  His paternal grandparents were Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Louis (The German) Roman II and Luitgarde of Saxony; his maternal grandparents were King Edward (The Elder) of England I and Queen of England Aelflaeda of Ethelhelm. He had a brother named d'Outremer, Transmarinus.  He was the younger of the two children. He had four half-sisters named Gisele, Alpais, Ermentrude and Ermentrude.  He died on May 21st, 0993 in Courcy, Ardennes, Champagne, France.1
