Anabella was born on June 16th, 1831 in Galston, Ayr, Scotland. Anabella's father was Robert Scoular and her mother was Helen Donald. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Scoular and Annabella Lauchlan; her maternal grandparents are Thomas Donald and Janet Brown. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Thomas James, George, Mathew, James Donald, Janet and Helen. She is the fourth oldest of the eight children.-
