Janet was born in 1733 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Janet's father was William Hamilton and her mother was Christian Dinwiddie. Her maternal grandfather was Robert Dinwiddie and her maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Cumming. She was an only child. She died at the age of 67 in 1800.General Notes
