Matthew McCurdy 
Matthew was born on July 14th, 1842 in Hopkinton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Matthew's father was Robert McCurdy and his mother was Mary Sanborn Morgan. His maternal grandparents were Jr. Morgan David and Polly Andres Colby. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Laurandus, Lyra, Frank, Willie, Mary Elizabeth and Theresa Marion. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 21 on September 5th, 1863 in Camp Carrolton, Orleans County, Lousiana.General Notes
He was studying for the ministry at the breaking out of the Rebellion(Civil War), when he and Lauraudus enlisted August 18, 1862, in Company H., Twentieth Iowa Regiment. He was promoted to orderly at division headquarters; was in several battles, taken sick at the siege of Vicksburg.
