Lucinda was born on February 23rd, 1833 in Bog District, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Lucinda's father was Willoughby Colby and her mother was Betsey Wheeler. Her paternal grandparents were James Colby and Susannah Stewart. She had three brothers and a sister, named Amos, Irad, Willaby and Betsey Ann. She is the oldest of the five children. She had four half-brothers named George, Moses, Erie and Irad.-
