Mary was born on December 16th, 1820 in Henstead, Suffolk, England. Mary's father was John Andrews and her mother was Amy Danbrook. Her paternal grandparents were John Andrews and Sarah Lincoln; her maternal grandfather was James Danbrook and her maternal grandmother is Sarah Smith. She had ten brothers and a sister, named James, George, John, William, Robert, Benjamin, David, Michael, Samuel, Alfred and Elizabeth. She is the fifth youngest of the twelve children.-
