Johnathan H., known as John, was born in 1827 in Hancock Co.,GA.1 John's father was Peter J. Black and his mother was Mary Griggs. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Ransom, Peter J., Littleton, Henry, Angelina, Mary C., Susan, Jane and Miss. He was the second oldest of the ten children.
