Robert was born in 1535 in Of, Chillington, Staffordshire, England. Robert's father was Thomas Giffard and his mother was Ursula Throckmorton. His paternal grandparents were Sir John Giffard Knight and Jane Hoord. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Edward, Humphrey, John, George, Dorothy, Isabell, Elizabeth, Lucy, Cassandra, Anne and Mary. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He had two half-sisters named Alice and Elizabeth. He died in Not Married.-
