Ray Ernest was born on November 29th, 1897 in Belvedere, Nebraska. Ray Ernest's father was John Pleasant Shaver. His paternal grandfather was Michael Shaver and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Thompson. He had four brothers named Floyd Milton, Clarence, Harley Wayne and Walter. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 61 on March 26th, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa.-
