His paternal grandfather was Michael Shaver and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Thompson. He had four brothers named Floyd Milton, Clarence, Walter and Ray Ernest. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 79 on June 17th, 1969 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.-
