Gilbert Christopher was born on July 29th, 1885. Gilbert Christopher's father was George Washington Shaver and his mother was Lucinda Judy. His paternal grandparents were George E. Shaver and Isabelle Rodgers; his maternal grandparents were William Judy and Sara Walkup. He had four brothers and six sisters, named William Alexander, Daniel Washington, Samuel Ely, George Edward, Sarah Isabella, Mary Catherine, Margaret Elizabeth, Esta Jane, Rebecca J. and Rachel. He was the youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 73 on June 10th, 1959. He was buried in Shafer Cemetery, Kessler, Greenbrier County, West Virginia.-
