William Asbury Speaks

William Asbury was born on November 9th, 1827 in Morgan Co., Alabama.¹   William Asbury's father was Wiley Speaks and his mother was Mary Elizabeth (Betsey) Murphey.  His maternal grandfather was James Murphy and his maternal grandmother is Rachel Laine. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Mary Ann, James T., Samuel Jasper, Henrietta C, Martha Ann, Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) and Ellen Preston.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hansford and Nancy J..  He died at the age of 85 on November 25th, 1912 in Morgan Co., Alabama.¹
