Mary Ann Speaks

Mary Ann was born on November 3rd, 1821 in Alabama.¹   Mary Ann's father was Wiley Speaks and his mother was Mary Elizabeth (Betsey) Murphey.  His maternal grandfather was James Murphy and his maternal grandmother is Rachel Laine. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James T., William Asbury, Samuel Jasper, Henrietta C, Martha Ann, Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) and Ellen Preston.  He was the oldest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hansford and Nancy J..  He died after 1850.¹
