James Edgar was born on June 29th, 1880 in Hunt Co., Texas.1 James Edgar's father was James Kenneth Ledford and his mother was Darnellie Juliar Basham. His paternal grandfather was Samuel B. Ledford and his paternal grandmother is Rachel Curtis; his maternal grandparents were John Marion Basham and Margaret Elizabeth Hinds. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Marion Edward, Ghumie, Maggie Bell and Rachel E.. He was the youngest of the five children.
