Peter's father was Thomas Wright Bacot and his mother is Jane deSaussure. His paternal grandfather is Peter Bacot and his paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Harramond; his maternal grandparents are Henry deSaussure and Jane McPherson. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas Wright, Daniel deSaussure, Richard Wainwright, Henry William, Elizabeth H., Francis Augustine, Jane Amelia deSaussure and Mary D..
