Nancy was born on April 22nd, 1763 in , , Virginia, USA.1 Nancy's father was Charles Skaggs and her mother was Lucinda Thompson. Her paternal grandparents were James Skaggs and Rachel Susannah Moredock. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Archibald, Thomas, Frederick, Moses, Polly, Rachel and Sally.
