Martha E. was born on January 25th, 1840 in , Grayson, Kentucky, U.S.A..1   Martha E.'s father was Isham Skaggs and her mother was Rachel Downs.  Her paternal grandparents were Martin B. Skaggs and Mary Or Polly Skaggs; her maternal grandparents were Richard Downs and Rachel. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Anderson, Miles, Jefferson Green, Richard C., David Taylor, Marietta, Katherine Or Kitty Ann, Malinda J., Lucretia, Ciral T. and Rachel.  She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 56 on March 30th, 1896 in , Grayson, Kentucky, U.S.A..  She was buried in March 1896 in Little Flock Church Cemetery, (8 Miles S.E. Of Clarkson, Hwy 224) Grayson County, Kentucky.2 3
