Hugh was born in 1147 in Cyfeiliog, Monmouth, Wales.1 Hugh's father was Ranulph DE MESCHINES and his mother was Maud FITZROBERT. His paternal grandparents were Ranulf DE MESCHINES and Lucy Countess Of CHESTER; his maternal grandparents were Robert DE CAEN and Maud FITZHAMON. He was an only child. He died at the age of 34 on June 30th, 1181 in Leeke, Stafford, England. He was buried in Chester, Cheshire, England.1 General Notes
