Richard Bruce was born on April 5th, 1921. Richard Bruce's father was John Thomas Elliott and his mother was Ann Bodily Galbraith. His maternal grandparents were William Layton Galbraith and Ann Elizabeth Bodily. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John Budge, Gordon Thomas, Grant Edgar, Ann Lona and Helen Agnes. He was the third youngest of the six children.-
