Anna was born in 1024 in Kiev, Ukraine.  Anna's father was Jarolaus (Yaroslav) I 'the Wise' and her mother was Ingigerd (Anna) Olafsdottir.  Her paternal grandparents were Vladimir 'the Great'' and Rogneda von Polotzk; her maternal grandparents were Olaf III "Skötkonung" Eriksson and Princess Astrid of the Obotrites. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Izyaslav I Dmitrij, Svyatopolk II, Vsevolod, Dobreonega, Valdimar 'the, Anastasiya Agmunda, Ellisif (Elizabeth), Prince of Smolensk and Prince of Vladimir.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  She died after 1075 in France.

‌Anna and Henry I were married in a religious ceremony in Rheims, France.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Philippe I 'the Fair', Louis IV, Hugues III 'Magnus', Emma Capet of and Robert.
