Rostislav I was born about 1110 in Smolensk, Smolensk, Russia.  Rostislav I's father was Mstislas and his mother was Christina Ingesdatter.  His paternal grandparents were Vladimir and Gytha Haroldsdatter; his maternal grandparents were Inge I Stenkilsson and Helena Torildsdatter Blot-Sven.
