Louis II, known as The stammerer, was born on November 1st, 0846 in , France.  The stammerer's father was Emperor Lothair I Hre and his mother was Ermengardeof Tours.  His paternal grandparents were Emperor Louis I (The debonaire) Hre and Ermengardeof Hasbaigne; his maternal grandparents were Ct. Hugues III of Tours and Ava of Upper Alsace. He had a brother and a sister, named The Saxon and Ermengardeof Lorraine.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 32 on April 10th, 0879 in Compiegne, Oise, France.

‌The stammerer and Ansgardeof Bourgogne were married in a religious ceremony about 0868.  They had a son and five daughters, named The simple, Ermentrudeof Franks, Trungardeof France, Trungardeof France, Adelaideof France and Adelaideof France.

They had a son named Berenger of Bayeaux.
