Robert was born about 1128 in Gloucestershire, England. Robert's father was Robert (The King's Son') De Caen and his mother was Maud (Mabel) (Sibyl) Fitzhammon. His paternal grandparents were King Henry I England and Sibilla Corbet; his maternal grandparents were Robert Fitzhammon Lord of Corboil and Sibyl De Montgomery. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Roger, Hamon, William Of Gloucester, Philip Fitzrobert De, Mabira de, Mabel, Maud Fitzrobert De and Juliana. He was the youngest of the nine children. He had four half-brothers named Roger, Richard, Hamon and Philip Fitzrobert. He died after 1159.-
