Eleanor was born in November 1292 in ,Gloucestershire,England.  Eleanor's father was Gilbert "The Red" de Clare and her mother was Joanna "Of Acre" of England.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare and Maud De Lacy; her maternal grandparents were Edward I, "Longshanks" Plantagenet King of England and Eleanor de Castilla. She had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert II, Margaret and Elizabeth. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Joan, Isabel and Mary.  She died at the age of 44 on June 30th, 1337 in ,Gloucestershire,England.

‌Eleanor and Hugh IV were married in a religious ceremony in 1306.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Philip I, Edward, Isabel and Elizabeth.
