Richard was born in 1150 in Clare,Suffolk,England.1   Richard's father was Roger "The Good" de Clare and his mother was Maud (Matilda) De Saint Hillary.  His paternal grandparents were Richard FitzGilbert De Clare and Adeliz de Keveliock; his maternal grandparents were James Du Harcourt De Saint Hilary and Aveline Ales Canamor of Scotland. He had a brother and three sisters, named Roger, Elena, Mabel FitzPatrick and Eveline (Aveline). He had twelve half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Richard, James, Roger, John, Henry, Ralph, William Iv D', William V, William d'Aubigny Guillaume III /, *William (Earl of Arundel), Alan, Godfrey, Mable, Eveline (Aveline), Cecily and Avice (Agnes).  He died at the age of 68 on December 30th, 1218.1

‌Richard and Amice were married in a religious ceremony before 1182 in <of Lincoln,Lincolnshire,England>.  They had two sons and three daughters, named Gilbert, Richard, Aveline, Maud and Joan.
